It will not remove a defect deeper than the clear coat.
If removing it means removing more clear than is safe, it stays, and we tell you before we start rather than after.
01 / Paint correction
3 stages · 96-150 µm logged · from $595
Correction removes clear coat. There is a finite amount of it — usually between ninety-six and a hundred and fifty microns — and every pass spends some. So we read the depth on every panel before a machine touches the car, and we tell you which defects are coming off and which are staying.
02 / What it actually is
96-150 µm logged per panel
Machine polishing with an abrasive, in stages. A compounding pass cuts the clear coat down past the bottom of the scratches; a refining pass removes the haze the first pass left. What you get back is not new paint — it is the same paint, made flat enough to reflect properly again.
The number that matters is how much clear coat came off. On the GT3 in our gallery it was 4.2 microns at the worst panel. That is logged, per panel, and it goes on the invoice.

4 things it will not do

Correction is a reset, not armor. That is what coating and film are for, and it is why they go on afterwards.
Paint is a consumable. We will not pretend otherwise to close a booking.
Clear coat does not grow back. This is the entire reason we measure.

These readings are illustrative. They demonstrate the measurement the shop performs; they are not a reading taken from a real vehicle.
06 / Process
−4.2 µm correction
The car goes under inspection lighting, every panel gets read, and you get told what is coming off and what is staying.
Two-bucket contact wash, chemical and mechanical decon, tar and iron off before anything touches the paint.
−4.2 µm
Compound + refine, 70-85% defect removal, paint depth logged per panel. Multi-stage where the reading allows it.
We give you the list and the products at handover, and the first maintenance wash is included.
Coating and PPF work runs about two weeks out.

No, and any shop that says yes is planning to bury the scratch, not remove it. If a defect is deeper than the clear coat, removing it means removing more clear than is safe. We measure paint depth per panel and tell you which defects stay.
Because the coating is two hours and the correction is three days. The coating locks in whatever is underneath it. Coating over swirls preserves the swirls for nine years.
Usually yes. Cars arrive at the dealer covered, get washed by whoever is available, and most new vehicles we see already carry delivery marring. New paint is also soft and corrects easily, which makes it the cheapest correction you will ever buy.
